Mole Valley Community Lottery – Launch Success!
11 May 2021
Mole Valley District Council’s new weekly, online Community Lottery was launched this week, to directly support good causes and green initiatives in the district. Over 40 representatives from local groups joined an online event where they learnt about the fantastic opportunity to raise money for their cause, at no cost to themselves.
The new lottery website is now live, see www.molevalleylottery.co.uk and non-profit organisations with a link to the district can apply to join. Ticket sales for this weekly lottery will be launched on 15th June 2021, the weekly top prize is £25,000!
Councillor Claire Malcomson, Cabinet Member for Environment said, “We are very proud to get this lottery up and running. We’ve had a fabulous response from our good causes and green initiatives launch, including representatives from clubs, community interest groups, charities, and other non-profit organisations which provide community activities or services. Once registered, players can select the good causes they want to receive money from the tickets they buy. We urge more local initiatives to apply and benefit from these ticket sales.”
The weekly online lottery will provide local good causes and green initiatives with an ongoing, simple way to raise funds. There is no set-up cost for the groups, and they don’t pay to take part. Once signed up, they will have their own webpage on the lottery site as well as marketing materials, regular offers and non-cash prizes to help promote their cause to supporters.
Each lottery ticket costs £1, with 50p going to a good cause of the player’s choice and 10p to an Environment Fund run by Mole Valley District Council, to help support environmental projects. Players will also be able to select the Environment Fund as their main good cause, sending 60p of their ticket cost towards investing in climate change initiatives in Mole Valley.
Players of the lottery can win a weekly £25,000 jackpot, plus smaller prizes. The rest of the money goes towards prizes and administration costs.
The first draw will be on 24 July 2021.
